sometimes the best things are the most simple.
for instance, this cranberry relish is made from cranberries, an orange, and sugar. that’s it! oh, and you need a food grinder, too – which might make a lot of you decide not to make this relish, but i bet a food processor or blender would work almost as well.
ground cranberries and oranges comprise the quintessential holiday smell for me, and i look forward to making this super simple garnish every year.

cranberry relish
- 1 lb cranberries, washed and picked through
- 1 large valencia orange
- 2c sugar
____________________
- grind cranberries in a meat grinder or food processor
- quarter orange and grind
- stir in sugar
- decant into jars and allow to sit for a day or two
- enjoy as a garnish!
