several halloweens ago, a thoughtful friend (i think it was capnscurvy) clipped a recipe from the mercury news for black cat cookies. i made them for the halloween party we threw that year, and loved them. but as halloweens are a full year apart, i have to admit that i almost completely forgot about the recipe after the first go with it.
a few weekends ago, we attended a fall barbecue thrown by my mom and willie. there were amazing quantities of delicious food, lots of good people and conversations, and paddle boats to have fun with on the lake – all which made for a fabulous fall afternoon.
my macbook’s monitor has been having issues, so we brought it in to the apple store last weekend. thus, i’m without a laptop for a whole week and have to draw straws with mike to try to get some time on his macbook. so i’m not sure if i’ll get to do a real post this week. but to tide you over, i thought i’d share the interesting website below, where you get to make your own breakfast cereal. it’s more expensive than oatmeal or the muesli i often consume, but it’s got me thinking about how awesome it would be to create your own cereal and have it shipped to you within a week! check it out:
yep, it’s officially fall, dear readers. and with the seasonal change, i decided to attempt to cook my first soup from scratch to keep us warm on the crisp fall nights. soup is a dish that i have had made for me from scratch by my parents, but something i’ve never attempted to make from scratch on my own because the stuff from the can usually fulfills any soup desire i might have
this week, mike and i packed up our car and headed up to mendocino and calistoga to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. we spent four days and three nights camping in mendocino (with no internet or electricity – can you believe it?), then headed down to calistoga (where we are right now, living the life with free wifi in our hotel).
